Statement of Purpose and Goals

CAPP is an open network of professionals and students committed to the study, research and exchange of ideas within and across psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories and practices.

CAPP strives to:

  1. Provide a forum for all professionals and students interested in sharing ideas about the powerful effects of intrapsychic dynamics and human relationships on the development of the individual, as well as the healing power of the therapeutic dyad.
  2. Provide formal and informal opportunities for dialogue through continuing education programs, study and consultation groups, newsletter publications, and major conferences involving innovative thinkers in our field.
  3. Foster the development of new professionals through outreach and study groups for students and early career clinicians.
  4. Promote understanding and awareness in the general public of psychoanalytic ideas of human development and therapeutic practice through educational opportunities and multimedia publicity.
